Introduction

Throughout the world more people than ever travel - on business and for pleasure - with greater numbers of them staying in hotels.

Travellers get their first impression of a hotel from the way they are received.  These first impressions are often the most lasting ones.  Therefore, it is difficult to exaggerate the importance of good hotel reception team with pleasant, professionally-dressed, competent and welcoming receptionists.

A good receptionist will build on the first good impression by employing good interpersonal skills at all times.  Skills of listening and responding positively to a guest's queries, and working as a reliable member of the hotel team are a few amongst the many important skills discussed in this module.
