  • 1001 Beauty Secrets  . a very easy to use and well laid out web site with concise descriptions of treatments and fitness aids amongst many.  The beauty section is more attuned to the selling of products but it still gives details of the benefits of natural ingredients. 
  • The Anatomical Society of Great Britain and Ireland  . this site has a detailed list of beauty links, a journal and positions vacant amongst its pages. 
  • Massage Magazine  - an on-line magazine with articles and links.  It covers some of the more diverse aspects of massage from improving the cognitive performance in infants to how best to avoid work related injury. 
  • Elle  - features top fashion, beauty news and hot tips from women everywhere. 
  • Vogue  - daily insider news, designer interviews, catwalk shots and a calendar of upcoming events.

  • Premier Business, Information Technology and Knowledge Management Portal . this Internet portal provides a very comprehensive range of links to other useful business pages, including links to journals and directories. This page also has a useful section on international sources of business information. 
  • Business Sources on the Internet - a good compilation of business sources on the Internet based at Strathclyde University, has an emphasis on UK resources. 
  • International Business Resources on the WWW  - although based in the US, this site contains many useful links, including links to US and international newspapers and journals.  International business sites are indexed by country. 
  • Research Index - provides an index to articles from newspapers and a range of business magazines covering company and industry information. 
  • World Class Supersite - is a well organised site with links to quality business resources. It includes links to country information, daily news, magazines and business directories. It also provides links to 125+ company homepages and examines how they are using the internet to promote themselves. 
  • SOSIG (Social Sciences Information Gateway) Business and Management -this site provides links and searchable descriptions of the highest quality internet business and management sites that have been chosen by librarians and academics.

  • Health World Online: The Alternative and Complementary Medicine Centre -  a wonderful, "all you need to know" site covering every thing from acupuncture and homeopathy, to some less well known therapies such as detoxification and chelation.  There is also a question and answer section and it has its very own search engine. 
  • The Complementary Therapy Browser  - a good site with a lot of detailed information about lots of therapies.  It includes an encyclopaedia, a list of publications, courses and an index covering oriental, Tibetan and psychotherapy techniques to name but a few. 
  • Rocky Mountain Herbal Institute - Chinese Herbal Sciences  - a well laid out site, with articles on herbs; a library; and a quiz, as well as an introduction to the ways of herbalism. 
  • Acupuncture.com - Student Resource Page - a brilliant site with all you will ever need to know about acupuncture.  Referred to here as TCM - Traditional Chinese Medicine, there are book reviews; news, politics and recent findings and detailed descriptions of acupuncture theories on arthritis, back pain and addictions amongst them.

  • World of Hair  - this site offers recommended publications, the latest trends and has a featured professional hairdresser. 
  • The Hair Care Institute  - here you can find amongst other things; a cyber salon offering a virtual hair colour guide and a hair encyclopaedia with a section on colour and a 'hair down the ages' section. 
  • Vidal Sassoon Site  - features courses, events and products as well as details on the renowned company itself. 
  • The Long Hair Site (TLHS) - Hair Care Section  - although this is called a site for long hair, there is information to be found that refers to all hair in general and not just long hair.  This section is the more informative.  It has facts and does the science bit and also includes a section on home brew recipes for hair treatments. 
  • All about Hair  - run a little way down this page past the adverts to the listings beginning 'topics on our site& hair styles'.  This is where it begins.  The links are too numerous to detail here but it is so easy to use from the list that it would be silly anyway.  It includes clear, detailed yet concise info on hair chemistry, tips, Q+A, salons, nutrition and hair and a mind bogglingly detailed glossary of ingredients to name but a few.  A very good site.

  • NHS Direct - a consumer friendly site.  It is large and the searchable Conditions and Treatments section offers a huge amount of information on diseases. 
  • The Department of Health -  this site has a collection of useful links, and the official statistics site is worth a look too. 
  • On Health - This portal brings you the latest health news along with a reference guide to over 350 common ailments.  The content is massive but can be very fruitful.  For those interested in alternative medicine there is a herbal index with advice on using herbal remedies. 
  • MedicineNet - Produced by health professionals, this site is made for the consumer.  It includes tips on healthy living, a disease guide, a medical dictionary and a guide to medicines. 
  • Women's Health Information - This is a site for women and their partners about pregnancy and common gynaecological conditions.

  • Sports Science Site - the GSSI - Gatorade Sports Science Institute offers a good reference library but you must be a member first. Joining only takes a moment and is worth it. It includes articles on motivational techniques, diet and nutrition and world wide events.

  • Yachting and Boating World - this sign contains online journals such as Yachting World and Practical Boat Owner. It also contains the latest yachting and boating news and results; a ‘what’s on’ guide and the weather forecasts.

  • Travel Advice Unit - this site from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office aims to advise and inform Britsh citizens about travelling abroad. There are some useful tricks about adjusting to foreign climes, and a lowdown on the E111 health certificate for travelling abroad.
