Body temperature

Traditionally body temperature has been taken using a thermometer in the mouth. Whilst this is still common practice, it is now often done using a small electronic machine with a sensor in it which is placed inside the client's ear. This is the method we have/shall use in the classroom.

Mercury thermometers are not recommended these days.

The sensor has disposable nozzles; a clean one is used for each new clients. The nozzle is placed gently into the client's ear and a small button is pressed for one second only. The tiny screen on the machine will give an electronic reading of the client's temperature. This is very accurate.
